PRN, Hospice Aide IPU

Position Summary:
Performs assigned duties to ensure care and comfort of hospice inpatients. Provides personal care and assistance with activities of daily living for high acuity hospice patients under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.

Recruitment Requirements:
H. S. Diploma or equivalent preferred. Must be 18 years of age. Successful completion of 75 hour Hospice/ Home Health Aide training program (that includes at a minimum 16 hours of classroom preceded by 16 hours of supervised practical training) or a nurse aide training and competency evaluation program approved by the State as meeting the requirements above and is currently listed in good standing on the State nurse aide registry. (A hospice aide is not considered to have completed a program, if, since the individual s most recent completion of the program(s), there has been a continuous period of 24 consecutive months during which none of the aide services furnished by the individual were for compensation.) Successful completion of a competency evaluation required. Successfully completes the introductory/probationary period. Maintains a minimum of 12 hours inservice hours annually. Must be able to read, write and take verbal direction. Must be flexible with scheduling. Demonstrates sensitivity to residents emotional, social, mental health and spiritual needs. Computer experience preferred. Per Diem Day/Evening/Night, Weekend High School diploma or GED Valid certification in specialty area required Previous experience required
