1st Choice is seeking an experienced, detailed Paralegal with experience working within the Federal Government

Job duties within the paralegal specialist job description include:

The Contractor shall provide a variety of services to include, but not limited to the following:

Serves as legal assistant responsible for directly and independently supporting one and up to four Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSA); providing a wide variety of technical assistance services. The work requires a specialized knowledge of the processes, procedures, and practices of legal assistance activities in conjunction with knowledge of clerical and administrative office skills and ability to apply these skills to increase the effectiveness of the assigned AUSA.

3.2 The requested services will be to perform a variety of legal assistance work to include preparing and processing legal documents and materials, researching case files, verifying legal citations, and compiling case information in specialized formats for trial presentations. The work directly affects the legal operations of the office.

3.3 Applicant must have knowledge of, and skill in applying, an extensive body of rules processes and procedures sufficient to: perform interrelated and nonstandard legal support work relating to the examination, preparation and processing of a wide range of legal documents and materials; use online legal resources to obtain or verify information; and use a wide range of office software applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point, to prepare complex legal documents and materials containing tables and graphs. Ability to operate a variety of office equipment, including PCs, printers, photocopiers, scanners, telephone systems, fax machines, numbering and binding equipment.

3.4 Good oral and written communication skills are extremely important. Works and interacts professionally and effectively with all levels of staff. Ability to meet established deadlines and work as a team player in a professional office. Skill in meeting and dealing with people in a courteous and tactful manner. Demonstrated ability to review a wide variety of documents, both legal and non-legal documents, including Motions and briefs, and a variety of legal correspondence.
