GENERAL OVERVIEW

The Director leads the execution of the strategy to align the activities of Partners Research Office and the Partners eCare Program. S/he provides leadership for the full spectrum of research activities as they relate to integration with the Partners eCare Program and Directing the eCare Research Core. This includes meeting regularly with research leadership across Partners and playing a leadership role in coordinating and advancing the work of the Partners eCare Research Council as well as determining the strategic direction of the Core. This role is funded as a 0.5 FTE effort.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Senior leadership role in the system-wide efforts to leverage Epic as a tool to advance research activities across PHS.
Serves as the contact point for the research and innovation communities to respond to their needs and to organize and prioritize demand and to interface with the PeC Teams, including the Research Application, Clinical Decision Support, Clinical Content, Process Redesign and Registries, Reporting, Access, Extensions, Demand Management, and Training teams.
Advocates for and directs the creation of a Partners eCare Research Core.
Serves as the Senior Advisor to the PeC Research Application Team, including supervising the writing of letters of support, advising on access permissions questions, and providing support for funding discussions, among other general activities.
Coordinates activities with the Partners eCare Research Application Team and positions and directs the future Partners eCare Research Core.
Leads the project and program management of portfolio of work for the PeC Research Council. Serves as a member and Innovation Council and serves as the primary liaison connecting the Research and Innovation Councils.
Helps researchers and innovators to understand the Intellectual Property (IP) environment.
Manages daily activities of a research project manager.
Leverages knowledge of project dependencies and timelines across the Partners Research Programs and Partners eCare.
Attends appropriate system-wide leadership committees to inform and implement PeC Research strategy.
Serve as a bidirectional research liaison to Epic in Wisconsin.
Provides regular updates to system-wide senior and executive leadership on progress related to Partners eCare and Research.

Performs other responsibilities as determined by the Partners Corporate Director of Research Information Systems and Computing and Partners Associate Chief Health Information Officer.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in research activities and/or research operations. Experience as a clinical researcher/Principal Investigator is a plus.
Experience working with Senior Research Leadership including Principal Investigators and Senior Faculty members.
Understanding of IRB processes, clinical research billing, clinical trials, and NIH funding and management approaches.
Experience working with complex and highly funded research programs.
Demonstrated management experience managing cross-functional teams and projects.
Knowledge and/or direct experience with clinical arena.
Doctorate Degree preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS

General day hours with flexibility to meet the demands of the position
Standard business environment with frequent local travel between Partners Healthcare System sites
May require travel for external training and coordination

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Leads activities of a Research Project Manager.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY

Works with Partners Corporate Director of Research Information Systems and Computing, and Partners Associate Chief Health Information Officer to manage appropriate budgetary resources
