JOB DESCRIPTIONAPPLY FAST (Flexible Alternate Staffing Team) provides relief for staffing shortages occurring from extended leaves, scheduled time off, and short notice absences. FAST staff duties may vary from day to day and will include all business operations functions: appointing (for both Primary Care and Specialty departments), check-in, insurance verification, patient registration, cashiering, work queues, Urgent Care arrival, preauthorization and forms processing.
Team members must have the ability to work a varied schedule between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 11:30 p.m., including weekends with as little as 48 hours scheduling notice. Part time FAST PARs will be scheduled to work 60 hours per two week pay period (between 20 and 40 hours per week). In return for this flexibility, part time FAST PARs will receive an additional $2.00 per hour wage premium (as well as any applicable contractual premiums/shift differentials) above their normal OPEIU PAR pay scale.
Successful FAST PAR candidates will demonstrate a high degree of flexibility and reliability as well as an ability to work in an ambiguous environment. They will have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills for both face-to-face and telephone interactions with patients and clinical staff. Candidates must be able to learn new processes, procedures and software programs quickly and with minimal support, while demonstrating attention to detail and accuracy in their daily work. Prior healthcare experience is not a requirement, but it will be advantageous, particularly if the candidate has experience working with the EPIC Practice Management software.
Candidates must be willing and able to travel and report to different locations on a daily basis, between the hours of 6:00 am and 11:30 pm. Travel time, mileage and parking within the cluster and a scheduled shift will not be additionally compensated unless the employee is asked to travel to multiple facilities within one work day. This role will be supporting the Olympia Cluster including the Tacoma Mall Group Health Location. EDUCATION
Minimum Education Requirements: High School Diploma/GED
Preferred Education: Vocational School/Certificate Prog Vocational training in medical office procedures and billing. Coursework or practical training and experience in ICD-9 and CPT coding.
Minimum Knowledge/Skills Requirements: Basic or limited Basic PC skills in MS Windows environment, 10-key and typing (35 WPM). Customer service skills, the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse customer base, and strong organizational skills.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills: Basic or limited Familiar with medical terminology. Knowledge of delivery system business operations processes, including appointing, account intake and verification, cashiering, financial interviewing, referral processing and data entry. Working knowledge of healthcare insurance practices and billing. Knowledge of health care payer/insurer types, including state and federal workers compensation, commercial, subrogation, self-insured, Medicare (CMS) and Medicaid (DSHS). Understanding of Group Health Cooperative insurance products and benefits. Proven ability to establish credibility and respect with patients. Proven ability to problem solve and take initiative. Ability to provide feedback and education to other staff regarding correct procedures.
Minimum Experience Requirements: 1 year Experience in a business office of a medical group practice, hospital, insurance company or a large contact center; experience in electronic patient accounting, scheduling or customer information systems. OR 2 years (In lieu of 1 yr required above): experience providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment
* 1 Year Six (6) months experience in processing various types of billing, including workers compensation, subrogation, coordination of benefits, and private/self-pay.

They will have effective interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills for both face-to-face and telephone interactions with patients, medical staff, and team members. * 3 years Additional experience in a patient care setting. Experience with IDX (Phamis) LastWord patient accounting system. Use of Epic Cadence/Prelude/Resolute or other patient scheduling and accounting systems. Understanding of Group Health Cooperative billing protocols and cash posting systems.
