JOB DESCRIPTIONAPPLY Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. When a patient arrives for an appointment, ensures that all paperwork is complete before the patient is seen by the physician and/or clinical staff. Registers patients into Relay Health. Verifies demographic, employer and insurance information at every office visit for all patients (new or established) and update in computer. Completely and accurately registers new patients and enter information into the computer. Informs patients in the waiting room of any delays (if a doctor is running behind schedule) and offers to reschedule appointments if patients are pressed for time. Possess updated knowledge of all office protocols. Answer the telephone, route calls appropriately, and take accurate messages. Schedules patient appointments according to site protocol. Informs patients in the waiting room of delays and offers to reschedule appointments if the need arises. Checks out patients, when needed, posts charges, processing and posting payments. Prints receipts and/or statements as required. Posts payments and/or charges in Medical Manager. Collects insurance co-payments and patient balances. Documents in Medical Manager when a Medical Manager request has been received. Performs daily close according to Cash Management policy. Ensures accuracy of daily batches (accountability forms, super bills and collections), and accuracy of scanner forms. Orients and precepts new reception staff. Acts as a resource and problem solver for front desk on day-to-day basis. Supervises reception staff in absence of Site Supervisor. Backs up Site Supervisor with daily batch and other duties, as assigned. Keeps the patient waiting area neat and clean at all times. Informs the Site Supervisor of any visitors (i.e. salespeople, drug company representatives, etc.) and respond to routine requests for information. Attends all meetings held by NMPG, the Practice Administrator, or the Site Supervisor. Performs all other duties as assigned by the Site Supervisor or Practice Administrator. Position may require sitting for long periods of time. Position may require bending, stretching and lifting of files and office supplies. Position requires operation of office equipment, such as a computer, telephone, copier and fax machine. Position involves constant contact with patients, physicians, staff members and outside visitors. Position requires ability to handle stressful situations in a mature and patient manner. AA/EOE.
1 year or equivalent experience.
Working knowledge of medical terminology.
2-4 year college degree.
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
