JOB DESCRIPTIONThis Payroll Specialist Position Features:

This position is primarily responsible for directly assisting the Manager, Payroll with complex Payroll departmental responsibilities and analytical activities, as well as the accomplishment of projects and departmental objectives.
Examples of Essential Functions:
Administer Internal Revenue Service, Franchise Tax Board, Child Support, and all other forms of garnishment directives.
Produce and distribute various Excel reports to management and others, including, but not limited to, PTO and Worker's Compensation.
Assist the Manager with calendar and fiscal year end objectives and requirements. Perform analysis for accuracy in such areas as PER's, PTO, and wages. Make adjustments and corrections as needed.
Reconcile various internal general ledger accounts and various outside service provider activities. Make corrections as required.
Work directly with the Manager, Payroll on special projects (i.e. software implementations, modifications, and upgrades). Produce Excel based reports from start to finish based upon parameters from the Manager. Perform analysis on major projects.
Examples of Duties:
' Assist the Manager with normal yearly activities, such as tax updates. Coordinate and produce special pay runs, such as awards and allowances.
' Make payroll related tax deposits. Maintain spreadsheets and ensure accuracy.
' Work with the Payroll Specialists to produce the Payroll, including entry of time sheets into PeopleSoft Payroll system. Assist the Manager with daily activities of the department.
' Calculate and prepare off cycle termination and other forms of paychecks.
' Engage in paycheck distribution.
' Respond to various email requests for information.
' Perform clerical tasks, such as filing and copy, etc.
' Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Sufficient education, training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. Development of the required knowledge and abilities is typically obtained through but not limited to: AA/AS degree in Accounting, Business, or other related field plus five years full-time Payroll experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions and duties as listed above. Must have experience with common office software such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Email. Must have experience with Payroll or other similar computer based Payroll products (PeopleSoft experience with the Payroll or Time and Labor Modules is preferred). Report writer experience is highly desirable. American Payroll Association certification is a plus. Ability to work independently under minimal supervision and instruction.
