Pediatric Ophthalmologist

The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of California, San Francisco is actively seeking applicants for a full-time faculty position in Pediatric Ophthalmology at the Assistant Professor level or higher. UCSF Benioff Children s Hospitals are ranked as one of the top children s hospitals in the nation by US News and World report with more than 150 specialists in more than 40 areas of children s health serving a diverse and complex patient population. Clinical responsibilities include direct outpatient and inpatient medical and surgical management of ophthalmic pediatric disorders, and pediatric and adult strabismus. Expertise in pediatric glaucoma is a distinct asset, with additional training/support available for those with strong interest but who desire further mentored experience. Participation in the screening and treatment of retinopathy of prematurity is expected. Full-time clinical faculty at UCSF are required to participate in teaching at multiple levels including medical students, residents, and staff. In addition, the candidate is expected to develop or advance a research program relevant to pediatric ophthalmology.

Requirements: Qualified candidate must have 1) an MD degree and have completed an approved residency program in ophthalmology and fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology; 2) American Board of Ophthalmology certification or eligibility and have a California medical license or eligibility; 3) knowledge and proficiency in medical and surgical management of pediatric ophthalmic disorders and strabismus; 4) demonstrated interest in basic and/or clinical applied research.
