The performance test engineer is responsible for executing performance
test plans which outputs add value to line of business and is valuable to stakeholders. The performance test engineer follows the core performance testing activities to achieve high quality performance testing and process consistency. The performance test engineer converts project and business requirements to performance test plans which are part of the performance testing strategy (GR 41)
Major Responsibilities/Activities:

* Has good knowledge of performance testing and performance testing best practices and guidelines

* Has good knowledge of computer networks and computer network architectures such as cloud networking and content delivery network (CDN)

* Has good knowledge of programming languages such as Java and C#

* Has good knowledge of scripting languages such Python and Ruby

* Has good knowledge of service-oriented architecture (SOA)

* Has good knowledge of continuous integration and deployment practices

* Create, execute, and document readable performance test plans 20%

* Monitor, analyze, and collect data about various customer performance workloads using performance measurement monitoring tools 40%

* Use performance tools such as Bulk Interaction Simulator (BIS), JMeter, and SIP Bulk Caller (SBC) to measure cloud application performance 20%

* Assist development in performing performance tests as needed 10%

* Documents bugs using the bug tracking software and works with development to confirm bugs fixes 5%

* Gives weekly status updates on assigned tasks to ensure clear communication 5%

Minimum Requirements:

* A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related degree is required.

* 3 to 5 years of industry experience performing web and cloud applications performance testing

* Strong computer science foundation including computer networks, distributed systems, databases, algorithms and data structures, and operating system concepts

* Good understanding of the following:

* Core performance testing activities

* Performance testing such as endurance, smoke, capacity, and stress tests

* Performance factors in cloud application performance such as throughput,response time, latency, concurrency, caching, and resource usage including bandwidth, CPU, memory, and disk I/O

* Amazon Web Services (AWS) such as S3, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, and Route 53

* Ability to analyze and interpret data using software analytics services such as New Relic and SumoLogic

* Ability to use automation and configuration management frameworks such PowerShell, Ansible, and Puppet

* Databases such as relational SQL and non-relational NoSQL

* Communications protocols such as Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP)

* Session initiation protocols such as Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)

* Agile or Extreme Programming (XP) software development and testing methods

* Version control systems such as GitHub or Bitbucket

* Good written and verbal communications skills

Preferred Qualifications:

* AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate

* M.S. in Computer Science or related field
