Job Description

Southeast Georgia Health System has an opportunity for a part-time Pharmacist to join our team!
Pharmacist

Summary: Provides prescribed medications, drugs, and other pharmaceuticals as needed for adequate patient care according to professional standards and practices. Calculates adult and/or pediatric dosages, IV administration, and interprets lab values and other diagnostic tests in evaluating dosages and drug therapy regimens. Advises/consults with patients and families, and medical and nursing staff. Demonstrates discretion, sound judgment and awareness of budgetary responsibilities. Exhibits positive interpersonal skills (customer service) as 75-80% of time is spent interacting with others.

Essential Responsibilities:
1. Reviews and interprets physician orders for in-patients using patient profiles to ensure that overdoses have not been prescribed and that incompatibilities or toxic compounds will not result from combining ingredients. Contacts and confers with physician if there are any irregularities regarding prescriptions and documents clinical interventions.
2. Medications are dispensed accurately and according to established procedure and state/federal guidelines.
3. Drug orders and drug information are entered accurately into the computer. Drug allergies and duplicate therapy are recorded, monitored, and appropriate action taken to promote safe, rational therapy.
4. Maintains inventory and records on narcotics and other forms of drugs required by law and maintains security of narcotics and controlled substances.
5. Inspects pharmacy inventory prior to dispensation to insure drugs which are outdated and/ or have lost potency are removed from stock. Drugs are added to order book and supervisor is informed of stock needs.
6. Operates and supervises the pharmacy during times in which the Director of Pharmacy or Supervisor are not present. Supervises technical staff with appropriate follow up to assure completion of assignments.
7. Completes floor visit assignments before end of month.
Minimum Qualifications: * Education: Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy. (Rph or Pharm D)
* Experience: None; previous hospital experience highly desired.
* Licensure: Current Georgia license and registrations required. Internship completed.
* Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Able to work 2:30pm-11pm three (3) days a week.
