Department: Pharmacy

The Pharmacist II is responsible for the daily organization and supervision of all drug distribution activities including providing education on medication related issues in a hematology/oncology focused service area. The Pharmacist will be responsible for evaluating medication orders and for providing efficient, accurate, cost-effective pharmaceutical care including providing ongoing drug usage evaluations and participation in performance improvement activities. Collaborates with other health care team members in the delivery of care. Employee will follow applicable policies and procedures in handling supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment.
Qualifications: Pharm D and current Pharmacy Licensure in the State of California is required. Experience in pediatrics with a hematology/oncology service focus, completion of a residency and/or previous hospital experience preferred.
License, Registration or Certification required - Current pharmacy licensure in the State of California
Skills: Knowledge of laws, regulations and standards relative to Institutional Pharmacy. Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology as related to drug usage and common disease states. Ability to apply current pharmacological and biopharmaceutical principles for the selection and use of drug products in a clinical setting. Ability to prepare drugs for administration and to give advice on and monitor the use of drugs in a clinical setting. Ability to prioritize work flow. Ability to supervise and work well with others. Ability to make decisions. Ability to learn and adapt to the use of automated information systems in daily practice. Possess the verbal and written communication skills required to fulfill the responsibilities of the Staff Pharmacist
