SERVICE AREA OVERVIEW
The Department of Pharmaceutical Services ensures the safe, effective and timely use of medications for our patient populations 24 hours a day. Our Pharmacists practice direct, responsible provision of medication-related care for the purpose of achieving definite outcomes that improve a patient s quality of life. Our Pharmacists promote the safe and effective use of medications by collaborating with medical staff and other professionals formally through the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. We actively participate on interdisciplinary patient care rounds, Clinical Guideline Teams, CQI Teams and a variety of hospital and medical staff committees.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Pharmacy Technician II will be responsible for assisting Pharmacists in dispensing pharmaceuticals and performing various technical duties involved with delivery.

Responds to calls from care areas and resolves missing dose requests.

Answers questions as appropriate regarding order processing.

The Pharmacy Technician II demonstrates proficiency to practice in two (2) or more of five (5) specific pharmacy areas (main, nursery, surgery, home care, and narcotics/materials management).

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Experience as Pharmacy Technician I for a minimum of six (6) months at Northside Hospital with demonstrated proficiency in two of five identified specialty areas.

Certified Pharmacy Technician (CphT) Pharmacy Technician Certification.

Must have active Georgia Licensure as a Pharmacy Technician.

Pharmacy Students have a pharmacy intern license and are therefore exempt from certification.

Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, coworkers, and others as necessary.

Knowledge and skill in the operation of personal computers and office equipment.

Work Schedule

This position will work every weekend; evening shift.
