Job Description
Under the direction and final check of a licensed Staff Pharmacist and according to established policies/procedures, performs a variety of technical and clerical support tasks to assist in the preparation, dispensing and delivery of pharmaceuticals and supplies. Enters medication orders and patient profiles into the computer system and performs related charge functions. Prepares, packages and labels interim and maintenance medications according to prescriber orders and to established policies and procedures. Answers telephone to receive, record and provide information regarding medication orders. Provides basic information in response to inquiries regarding the status of medications and pharmaceuticals. Assists customers arriving at pharmacy site. Performs routine inspection of medications and pharmaceutical supplies; packs, stores and restocks supplies and removes expired items. Prepares orders for pharmaceuticals and supplies as necessary. Performs charge functions based on cost and quantity through computer generated or manual calculation. Prepares and inputs credits and miscellaneous items into computer system. Performs assigned accounting activities including reconciling third party claims, completing the weekly revenue/cash report, counting down register at end of day, conducting nightly manual batch settlement of credit card machine, etc. Attends educational seminars/in-services to maintain or enhance skills and competencies.

Minimum Qualifications
1. High School Diploma or equivalent.

2. One to three years of pharmacy experience, or completion of formal pharmacy technician training including knowledge of medical and pharmaceutical terminologies. Formal pharmacy technician training is preferred.

3. Certification is preferred.

4. Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Michigan by 10/1/15.
