JOB DESCRIPTIONJOB SUMMARY
The archives student assistant is responsible for surveying, arranging, and describing historic materials documenting the University O Kentucky, including documents, publications, and photographs. Duties will include: inventorying records, evaluating items for preservation concerns, rehousing materials when necessary, entering information into a database, and assisting in the development of finding aids.
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES
Attention to detail, legible printing, typing, and filing skills. Knowledge of the English language at the level of a native speaker. The student should have the ability to follow department procedures and policies and to work without close supervision. It is expected that the student assistant will maintain a regular work schedule. Must have respect for the intrinsic value of archival materials.
DOES THIS POSITION HAVE SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES*
Basic computer and typing proficiency with a working knowledge of Microsoft applications, Photoshop, scanning software and hardware, as well as an understanding of database management.
