Bachelor s Degree CPR Licensed Physical Therapist (LPT) Experience is preferredI. PRIMARY FUNCTION/GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITIONProvides assessment, observation, hands-on skilled care, and teaching activities under a physician s order. Provides evaluation and treatment to patients with neuromusculoskeletal deficits and physical dysfunction; instructs patients and families in exercises or mobility skills. Provides primary coordination of services in collaboration with the other members of the multi-disciplinary team focusing on the patient s entire episode of illness and care. Responsible for developing patient care goals and meeting established outcomes with the effective use of resources. Perform other duties as assigned.II. EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS1. Graduate of an accredited school of physical therapy, college or university.2. Current licensure in good standing as a Physical Therapist from the State Board of Medicine of the Commonwealth of Virginia.3. Certification in Basic Life Support and CPR are required.4. Clinical experience in the evaluation and treatment of patients with neuromusculoskeletal deficits, in communication and in supervision normally acquired during one or more years of work in a general hospital, rehabilitation center, or outpatient facility. Such skills and knowledge would include:
a. Theory and application of physical therapy in neurologic, orthopedic, pediatric, oncology, and geriatric disorders/dysfunctions.b. Clinical application of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, histology, and kinsiology.c. Competence in use of physical modalities such as ultrasound, heat and cold, and electrical stimulation.d. Manual skills in therapeutic exercise and joint mobilization.e. Working knowledge of social sciences and application to community health.f. Organizational and personal time management skills.5. Valid Virginia drivers license.
