PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT, ENT HEAD AND NECK SURGERY

INPATIENT NO ON CALL, NO WEEKENDS!

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

*

Completes and documents an accurate history and physical examination of patients.



*

Conducts comprehensive or episodic health assessments and develops patient care plans.



*

Orders and interprets tests, treatments and therapies within the scope of practice.



*

Prescribes medications, including controlled substances to the extent delegated including non-pharmacologic treatment modalities.



*

Orders, interprets, and performs laboratory and other diagnostic tests and procedures, serves as surgical first assist as assigned.



*

Provides clear, concise and accurate information in the electronic medical record.



*

Initiate and perform consultations in accordance with Rush rules and regulations.



*

Make appropriate referrals to other health care professionals and/or agencies.



*

Provides direct patient care in assigned areas, which may be in a hospital or ambulatory setting.



*

Demonstrates clinical competency in all area of clinical practice including: medical knowledge, interpersonal and communication skills, patient care, professionalism, practice based learning and improvement, systems based practice.



*

Skill in preparing and maintaining electronic and paper medical records.



*

Ability to educate patients and/or families as to the nature of disease and to provide instruction on proper care and treatment.



*

Works collaboratively with his/her supervising physician, department and other members of the healthcare team in an effective and comprehensive manner.



*

Acts as an advocate for patients, families, coworkers, and the physician assistant profession.





QUALIFICATIONS:

*

Current State of Illinois Physician Assistant licensure



*

Current certification from National Certification Commission for Physician Assistants (NCCPA)



*

Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Studies training program required.



*

Masters Degree.



*

CPR certification. ACLS or PALS certification preferred.
