Job Description

Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center is a world renowned organization dedicated to the progressive control and cure of cancer through programs of patient care, research, and education. We are seeking a full time physician assistant to work on the Orthopaedic Service within the Department of Surgery. This PA will work within a multi-physician practice.nbsp; Under the general supervision of a surgeon, the physician assistant will cover all aspects of pre-operative, operative, and post-operative care in the outpatient clinics and in the operating room.nbsp; This PA will provide medical care for both the pediatric and adult oncologic orthopaedic population.nbsp; Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Provide outpatient care in the clinic * First and second assist in the OR * CastSplint application * Provide wound care * Collaborate with faculty, physician assistants, nursing staff, fellows and residents about patient care treatment plans * Orderinterpret diagnostic tests * Prescribe medications * Counseling and educating patients * Emergency room evaluation of the orthopaedic patient * Physical TherapyOccupational Therapy referrals * Discharge planning nbsp; -The PA candidate must be a graduate from an accredited PA program, be NCCPA board certified, hold a NYS license or be qualified for state licensure.nbsp; -Preferably, this candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in orthopaedic surgery or have a prior history working as a licensed physical therapist.nbsp; -Exceptionally strong new graduates will still be considered.nbsp; -The ideal candidate will be a team player, excellent communicator, proactive and have a genuine interest in the field of oncologic orthopaedic surgery.nbsp; -This PA must also possess the ability to manage time and stress effectively as it pertains to patient care settings. -Four 10 hour shifts per week, including occasional Saturday OR coverage.nbsp; -No overnight shifts are required.
