The selected candidate will independently work on assignments involving design of pipe supports for Fossil and Nuclear, work location will be in Frederick Md. Duties include prepare/check pipe support calculations and sketches; attend kick-off meetings at job sites as well as in the office, and define scope of work. Provide timely input to the group lead and the EGS. Review supplier documents, scope books, specifications, engineering guides and standards, etc.
The selected candidate should be experienced in the use of office programs such as Excel & Microsoft Word. Candidate will be required to work in a 3D Model and extract and prepare 2D support drawings and prepare calculations using structural analysis software such as FAPPS, MAPPS, ME-035, BaseplateII etc. Coordination with walkdown personnel and other engineering supervisors is required.
Additional duties will include the performance of walkdown, documentation of piping & pipe supports with respect to providing input to complete the engineering of Nuclear Power Plant in compliance with the latest industry and regulatory standards. Walkdowns consist of:
climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, and working in confined spaces.
Basic Qualifications BS degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university. Grade 23 ��" 2 to 4 years of pipe support design experience.Grade 24 - 4 to 8 years of pipe support design experience.Minimum of 2 years experience designing/ performing calculations for pipe supports on power projects. The candidate must be a self starter and be able to work independently on a variety of tasks simultaneously.
- Applicants must have the right to work/remain in the U.S. and must be capable of passing necessary background and drug checks to obtain a badge at a nuclear facility.Knowledge of the application / use of pipe support hardware. Knowledge of industry standards, OSHA safety standards as applicable to Nuclear Power Plants.. Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication in English. Hands-on use of Excel. Hands-on use of 2D / 3D Microstation CAD program.Experience in generating / checking pipe support calculationsHands-on use of Microsoft Word. Familiarity with design/calculations of nuclear power piping and supports. Hands-on knowledge and use of FAPPS, MAPPS, ME-035, etc. or equivalent computer programs
