HYG designs, engineers, manufactures, sells and services a comprehensive line of lift trucks and aftermarket parts marketed globally under the Hyster and Yale brand names. HYG is looking for an energetic Plant HR Manager who will have a positive influence on the Human Resources team. As a Plant HR Manager, you will provide the strategic direction, leadership, management, and coordination of all aspects of Human Resources, Training and EHS function for the Manufacturing Facility. You will provide counsel to Senior Plant Staff and operate as a Center of Excellence for all employees on all Human Resources, Safety and Environmental matters and supporting HR functions. The Plant HR Manager will provide a comprehensive strategic safety program for the manufacturing site in coordination with the Americas Division and ensure compliance with internal and external legislative and policy requirements.
The successful Plant HR Manager will have the following Key Accountabilities:
Strategic HR Leadership - Operate as Business Partner to operational partners, analyzing, designing, developing, planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating the facility's Human Resources functions and performance. Ensure the delivery of HYG's plans and programs as a strategic partner that will focus on the impact of people. Clearly define employee relations strategies that translate strategic and tactical plans into HR strategy and operations with a focus on safety, capability building, and employee relations.
Talent Management - Work with the Talent Management function to coordinate an effective and efficient recruiting process by using competency based methods. Recruit, attract, select, train, develop, promote and maintain high potential employees, maintaining a low turnover rate and establishing an effective and efficient succession plan. Leverage and optimize current talent across all locations. Apply legal/regulatory compliance in every facet of talent management. Support and assist in divisional strategies and projects as needed.
Environmental Health and Safety - Review, evaluate, and analyze work environments and design programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent injuries or accidents. Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices, in order to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations. Inspect specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, and first-aid supplies. Collaborate with engineers and physicians to institute control and remedial measures for hazardous and potentially hazardous conditions or equipment. Conduct inspections and enforce adherence to laws and regulations governing the health and safety of individuals. Conduct safety training and education programs, and demonstrate the use of safety equipment. Provide new-employee health and safety orientations, and develop materials for these presentations. Complete all required safety training courses.
Maintain and Foster Effective Communications- Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts and helping resolve work-related problems. Identify main customers and audiences and determine the best way to communicate information to them. Coordinate strategies regarding litigation on WC, EEOC, OSHA, & FMLA.
Administer Compensation and Benefit Programs - Provide job analysis and position description recommendations to Corporate Comp & Benefits. Guide managers through compensation decisions. Prepare detailed job descriptions. Develop methods to improve employment policies, processes, and practices, and recommend changes to management. Promote a fair and equitable compensation program that maintains a competitive position for employment and retention of needed personnel locally and nationally.
Training & Development - Prepare training budget for the plant. Evaluate instructor performance and the effectiveness of training programs, providing recommendations for improvement. Plan, develop, and provide training and staff development programs, using knowledge of the effectiveness of methods such as classroom training, demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences, and workshops. Confer with management and conduct gap analysis to identify training needs based on projected production processes, changes and other factors. Continuously enhance and develop employees' skills to support the objective of becoming a World Class Manufacturer. Maintain Certified Manufacturing process. Develop employees for succession planning and optimize employee talent, skills, and abilities.
The successful Plant HR Manager will have the following Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree required in HR or related field, Master's Degree preferred.
* 7-10 years of HR management experience required. Manufacturing experience preferred.
* Specialized knowledge of Federal and State laws as they relate to OFCCP, EEOC, OSHA, EPA, Unemployment Insurance, COBRA, Workers Comp., etc. required.
* Knowledge of sound HR Practices in areas of employment, compensation, benefit design, and administration required.
* Strong Leadership experience and sound business acumen required.
