JOB DESCRIPTIONAPPLY The Air Liquide Plant Manager Orientation Program (ALPOP) is a development program aimed at developing plant managers of the future. The successful candidate should be seeking a career in operations focused on plant management. This program will focus on exposing the associate to real life situations that might take up to five years in a non-structured program. In this program he/she will train for the role of Plant Manager with an experienced mentor and transition into first assignment no sooner than 12 months or no longer than 24 months.
Our ideal candidate must be willing to relocate to one of the following hydrogen/syngas plant locations for their 12 to 24 month training (the assigned location will be determined by the company): Rodeo, CA El Segundo, CA Longview, TX
Once the individual has successfully completed the 12 to 24 month developmental program, he/she will be required to relocate to any plant in the US where there is a need.
Job Responsibilities: Participate in non routine tasks such as cold box entry, equipment upgrades, etc Learn to operate plant safely/reliably Develop general understanding of OSHA, EPA, EEOC, FDA, other pertinent federal/state/local regulations Learn typical permit operating requirements/methods utilized to ensure/document compliance Learn/use incident investigation/reporting procedures Conduct regulatory training as requested by plant manager Learn EEOC requirements; participate in interviewing/hiring decisions Learn to articulate company safety standards; develop familiarity with applicable HSE policies/procedures; demonstrate use while assisting plant manager with administration of policies Read/understand Key Operating Documents (KODs) Develop process troubleshooting skills under supervision of plant manager Learn to contribute to positive customer relationships Develop familiarity with product quality processes/requirements Learn capabilities of computerized maintenance system; assess predictive/preventative maintenance plan impact on plant operations Participate in updating plant process hazard analysis Learn/use MOC process Develop/lead people; model exemplary safety behavior; lead by personal example Participate in annual performance review process by auditing job profiles for accuracy/applicability/generating necessary documentation to set up performance evaluations Provide candid constructive input to management decisions/actively supports those decisions Develop familiarity with administrative/operational policies/procedures Complete Personal Development System goals as defined in annual review/Plant Manager Associate training program Understand, monitor, optimize operating costs within authorized budget Identify/implement opportunities to reduce costs; documents annual cost savings personally generated Develop familiarity with common accounting practices/tools Develop potential projects Learn to utilize efficiency/availability indicators to optimize plant performance Develop familiarity with national purchasing agreements/frame agreements/other procurement policies
Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Engineering strongly preferred 3+ years process industry experience preferred Production operations leadership or military experience strongly preferred On call nights/weekends/holidays as required Must be mobile; typically 9 to 12 trips per year; willing to relocate Ability to work extended hours/shift work as business needs dictate Familiarity with regulatory requirements for operating plants, including process safety management, OSHA regulations, EPA regulations, EEOC guidelines, FDA regulations (where applicable), state/local requirements Computer literacy; familiarity with MS Office package; remotely access Intranet; learn to use internal systems such as Pilgrim, Evergreen Capital Planning, Maximo/Oracle Cost Reporting Trainable on Distributed Process Control (DCS) operation/troubleshooting Able to deliver/explain training material to operating personnel Extremely organized; effective at time management Able to establish/maintain a plant filing system, control of engineering documents; ability to read/red-line key operating documents Display mechanical/electrical aptitude for equipment operation/troubleshooting Working knowledge of commercial agreements Excellent communication/team leadership skills General understanding of accounting principles/working knowledge of plant operating budget
