Purpose Of Position To operate and maintain water treatment plant equipment and processes to ensure water quality criteria is met in supplying water to the public. Essential Functions Operate and monitor pumps, motors, chemical feeders, etc.Perform facility maintenance; cleaning clarifiers, evaluation of and repair to security equipment.Obtain training to retain certification as required by State and Departmental policy.Perform preventative maintenance, lubrication of equipment, painting, and leak repair.Perform lab analysis/sample collection/interpretation of results.Perform data collection and data entry into personal computer.Dispatch emergency call out, response to equipment failure, customer complaints.Public relations, tours, public information, telephone calls.Perform major maintenance, disassemble/re-assemble pumps, repair filter components, etc.Must possess knowledge of proper water treatment as required by State and Federal law, as well as described in AWWA specifications.Must possess knowledge of proper filter operations and mechanical principles.Must possess knowledge of basic laboratory analysis and sampling procedures.Must possess an understanding of principles of safety involving use of power tools, electrical equipment, and hazardous materials.Must possess skill to troubleshoot equipment and make decisions accordingly.Must possess the ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.Must possess the ability to perform basic math problems as they relate to water treatment.Must possess the ability to retrieve and enter data using a personal computer.Must possess the ability to operate plant equipment utilizing SCADA system.Must be able to stand 1-hour daily; walk 6-hours daily; sit 2-hours daily; push and pull up to 50-pounds carry 20-pounds; lift 100-pounds; occasionally climb, stoop, and bend 1-hour daily.Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or GED required; some college preferred, including course work in chemistry, biology or a related field. At least one (1) year of experience in water treatment is preferred. Must have the ability to obtain a Class -D\\" Surface Water Certification as issued by TCEQ within three (3) months of employment and a Class \\"C\\" Surface Water Certification within one (1) year of employment. Must possess a valid Texas Class \\"C- Driver's License with clear driving record.
