Job Description

The ideal candidates will have 4+ years experience in troubleshooting and maintaining process control systems. In addition the candidate will be expected to gain proficiency in the areas of electrical maintenance and operation of fossil plant steam electric generating plants. Work locations will be at any of the three Baltimore area generating stations.

The Plant Technician will be required to have a primary skill in one of the areas of Plant Operations, Mechanical Maintenance, Electrical or Instrumentation and Controls. In addition, the employee will receive scheduled training in the other non-core disciplines.
Job Summary:
The Plant Technician operates, performs regular maintenance, troubleshoots, tests, and makes rounds taking regular readings on all power plant equipment and systems; Provides safety and environmental stewardship; Ensures compliance with all applicable Federal and State regulations and plant procedures; Keeps all equipment in optimum operating condition. Valuable non-core level skills may be in the area of administrative, mechanical, instrumentation and control, and/or electrical maintenance skills.

Operates, performs regular preventive maintenance, troubleshoots, tests and makes rounds taking regular readings as required to maximize asset value.
2. Manages maintenance tasks and records preventive maintenance activities.
3. Trains and develops other employees in performing maintenance and routine equipment service activities. Practices situational leadership, safety and environmental stewardship.
4. Performs maintenance on all plant equipment including mechanical and electrical systems, instruments & components.
5. Leads equipment or system problem identification and recommends solutions.
6. Develops operating procedures for plant equipment to ensure consistent and safe operation.
7. Ensures that appropriate safety procedures are followed.
8. Assists in requisitioning parts and supplies.
9. Performs other duties as directed.
Skills/Abilities:
Strong aptitude in math, mechanical/electrical ability and production control.
Excellent communication and team skills and a working knowledge of Excel and PC based applications.

Education/Experience:
Successful completion of the EEI Tech test.
Hands on experience with all aspects of power plant operations and maintenance including mechanical maintenance, instrument and electrical systems, and a working knowledge of power cycles is a plus.
Must satisfy respirator qualifications
Satisfactory results with respect to the background investigation pursuant to the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) requirements, if applicable.
Valid drivers license and ability to meet Company driving standards.

Other (including physical requirements, working conditions, etc.):
Ability to work rotating 12 hour shifts and overtime with minimum supervision. Emergency and planned overtime required.
Climb stairs and ladders.
Exposure to hazards include heat, cold, noise, confined areas, heights above six feet, potential hazardous substances, radiation and proximity to unguarded high voltage. Lifts and moves equipment weighing about 35 pounds or more.
