Job Description:

This position reports to the team leader for fabrication and injection molding and is responsible for fabricating and welding plastic products from various plastic materials such as PFA, PVDF, PE, PP, ETFE, Nylon and others. Products vary in design and size requiring strong skills reading and interpreting drawings as well as proficiency using measurement tools. Excellent mechanical aptitude and strong skills with standard shop tool and equipment is also required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Fabricate plastic components and products utilizing drawings, measurement tools, shop tools and equipment. Work at an appropriate pace insuring quality product quality requirements are met while meeting or exceeding productivity targets. Assemble and weld plastic products to established designs and work instructions. Utilize measurement tools such as verniers, micrometers, height gages, and scales to fabricate components and assemblies as need. Conduct quality inspections to established drawings and work instructions as needed. Become proficient in plastic welding of various plastic types achieving certifications as required. Assist other departments with plastic welding, trimming, assembly, etc. as needed. Observe all safety procedures and wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, respirators, etc. as required. Participate in continuous improvement activities such as PPI teams, lean initiatives, 5S, etc. Recommend quality and productivity improvements where appropriate in increase customer satisfaction, quality delivery performance, and profitability. Perform other duties as assigned. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Interpret and utilize drawing and work instructions to fabricate products. Proficient with measurement tools, hand tools, and shop equipment. Communicate orally in the English language with customers, clients, and the public using a telephone and in group and face-to-face, one-to-one settings. Work cooperatively with others. ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: High school diploma or equivalent work experience. Basic computer skills needed to process work orders, retrieve electronic documents and document results. Fabrication skills, plastic welding and fabrication preferred.
