JOB SUMMARY

A postdoctoral position is available at the Center for Environmental and System Biochemistry (CESB) at the University of Kentucky to conduct metabolomic research on cell and animal models of lung cancer to decipher metabolic reprogramming governing the initiation of tumorigenesis and metastasis in non-small cell lung cancers. We employ a wide variety of omics, biochemical, molecular genetic, cellular, and molecular imaging approaches directly on human patients along with studies on cell culture, ex vivo human tissue, and animal models to gain systems biochemical understanding of human lung cancers for translation into clinical benefits including early diagnosis and drug target discovery.

The incumbent should have a PhD or MD/PhD in biochemistry or related fields with working knowledge in metabolism, extensive experience in cell and animal models (e.g. PDX and transgenic mouse models), and good writing skills. Specific animal skills required includes small animal handling and maintenance, blood draw, intra-peritoneal and intravenous injections in rodents, and mouse surgery. We expect the candidate to be highly motivated to learn new approaches and able to work both independently and as a team member. Training on a variety of state-of-the art biochemical techniques will be provided as necessary.
Applicants should e-mail CV, a list of at least three suggested references and a short statement describing experience, goals and reasons for the interest in this position to Dr. Teresa Fan (twmfan@gmail.com) or Ms. Alicia Colliver (ajduna0@uky.edu).
