JOB DESCRIPTIONPosition Description
The position will provide an exceptional opportunity for research in correlated electron systems and energy materials for one or two of the following areas: topological insulators, magnetic skyrmions, multiferroics, thermoelectrics, and superconductors, at the forefront of electron microscopy to understand structure-properties correlation. Extensive use of state-of-the-art aberration corrected electron microscopy, including quantitative atomic imaging, energy-loss spectroscopy, nanoprobe diffraction and low-temperature biasing, for quantitative data analyses are expected.
The successful candidate will have close collaborations with leading theoretical and experimental groups at BNL as this is an essential ingredient of the research. The work will be under the direction of Dr. Yimei Zhu.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* PhD. in Condensed Matter Physics, Materials Science, or closely related fields
* Solid background in electron microscopy and structural characterization are crucial
* Effective communication skills are required
