Post-doctoral Research Position : Mathematical Analysis and Scientific Computation
An immediate opening is available for a post-doctoral researcher in the group of Dr. Paul J. Atzberger, Department of Mathematics at the University of California Santa Barbara (http://www.atzberger.org/).
The project area concerns the development of new theoretical approaches and computational methods in the area of stochastic analysis and modeling. Dr. Atzberger's group has interests in approaches that include but are not limited to: stochastic modeling, fluctuating hydrodynamics, fluid-structure interactions, and reduction analysis. For more details see, http://atzberger.org/. The position is funded by a grant from the Department of Energy (DOE). The proposed projects provide unique opportunities for interdisciplinary research and training in scientific computation through interactions with diverse faculty and DOE research staff.
Candidates should have a Ph D in Mathematics and/ or Engineering or a closely related field. The ideal candidate will have solid theoretical and computational background. In addition a strong motivation to study applications arising in the sciences or engineering. The position is for the duration of a year subject to annual review and available funding. The University of California Santa Barbara provides a rich multidisciplinary environment for conducting research.
