SUMMARY:

Maintains the operation of the pouch line filling and packaging equipment in a safe and efficient manner, insuring the finished product meets all the food safety and quality attributes.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


* Operate the filling and packaging equipment in an efficient and correct manner. Including proper start up, shut down, and clean-up of equipment.

* Follow proper start up procedures/checklist as outlined in operator s manual.

* Monitor performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action of the line.

* Maintain extremely accurate inventory usage.

* Communicate with batcher on a timely manner on operational status of equipment.

* Sort, grade, weigh, and inspect products, verifying and adjusting product weight or measurement to meet specifications.

* Observe machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to standards.

* Monitor the production line, watching for problems such as pile-ups, jams, or glue that isn't sticking properly.

* Attach identification labels to finished packaged items, or cut stencils and stencil information on containers, such as lot numbers or shipping destinations.

* Stock and sort product for packaging or filling machine operation, and replenish packaging supplies, such as wrapping paper, plastic sheet, boxes, cartons, glue, ink, or labels.

* Perform maintenance according to machinery specifications and production requirements.

* Maintain record of repairs and work performed.

* Trouble shoot and assist qualified mechanic, in the repair of equipment.

* Monitor and controls product processes, including rate of flow, proper sterilization, maintain proper filler operational temperatures, proper fill weight, etc.

* Coordinate preparation of packing materials prior to use. Including proper documentation for production and usage inventory.

* Communicate with Quality Control to maintain product specifications.

* Comply with all Quality Control requirements and assist lab for obtaining product samples.

* Ensure proper operation of pouch filling machine equipment by performing routine maintenance on the filler.

* Maintain a Clean and safe work area.


MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
One month related experience or training

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively with co-workers and supervisors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
NA

TECHNOLOGICAL REQUIREMENTS:

PREFERRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures and tests in English.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers/supervisors.
Low acid food process training.
HACCP training.
Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
Forklift driving experience
