Job Summary

The MR/Principle Technologist is a CRT/ARRT licensed technologist who maintains an ARRT sponsored MRI certification and has more than 7 years of MRI experience. The technologist will work at the orthopedic facility where they will operate a 3T GE MRI scanner. This position involves direct contact with out-patients, including interviewing them, explaining the scanning process and positioning them on the examining table to produce high resolution images. This technologist must also be certified and demonstrate competency in performing injection procedures necessary for MRI.

In addition to coverage at the orthopedic facility, the technologist will be included in the evening coverage at the Mission Bay Hospital as well as weekend and holiday rotations. At this site, the technologist must demonstrate the ability to perform MRI exams on both in-patients and out patients, demonstrate the ability to work safely in an acute care setting, and be able to cooperate accordingly with anesthesia and other patient care departments that interact with the MR environment.

At both sites, the MR/principle technologist is responsible for interacting, guiding and teaching students and new hires.

* The technologist will be required to maintain competencies in all MRI exams including some specialized techniques such as fetal imaging, pediatric whole body imaging, prostate imaging as well as inserting the endo-rectal coil.

* The postition requires past experience with all age-range and specific type patients including but not limited to neonatal, pediatric, adult, geriatric and bariatric.

* The technologist must be certified and demonstrate competency in performing injection procedures necessary for MRI.

The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations is required.

Required Qualifications

* Minimum 7 years experience with high field magnetic resonance system

* Specialized experience in MSK, fetal, cardiac and prostate imaging

* Graduate of a formal radiology technology training program in an AMA approved school

* CRT Licensure

* ARRT Registered

* ARRT approved MRI Certification

* Active American Heart Association CPR certification

* Venipuncture Certification

* Certification in Injections

* Flexibility in scheduling, ability to rotate shifts as well as coverage for weekends and holidays

* Flexibility to rotate to other sites when necessary

* The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations is required
