The Scott product line includes self-contained breathing apparatus, supplied air and air-purifying respirators, gas and flame detection instruments, thermal imaging cameras, air compressors, accountability systems, head, eye and face protection, and firefighter and personal protective clothing.
The Mechanical Engineer IV position is responsibile for the design of Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA). A successful candidate will search out new and improved technologies, materials, and processes that create performance advantages. Candidates will ensure that standards of quality, costs, reliability, safety and timelines are met.
Candidates will be responsible for providing documentation and sufficient performance data to assess form, fit and function for performance, reliability and manufacturability as well as facilitate approval of products with regulatory agencies. Candidate must work closely with other mechanical and electrical engineers, designers and lab technicians to optimize SCBA designs.
Ideal candidates will have a working knowledge of high pressure pneumatics (greater than 1,000 psi), pneumatic circuits, fluid dynamics including compressible flow, computational fluid dynamics, 3D solid modeling ((Inventor preferred), GD&T, FEA, and statistics (Minitab). Experience with injection molding, sheet metal design, and precision machined components is desirable.
Education and Experience (Required)
Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering required. Master's degree preferred.
7 years minimum experience in mechanical design required.
3 years experience with SCBA or SCUBA products desirable.
Experience with the design of products in a high production environment desirable.
Design experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, valves, pneumatic circuits, etc is desirable.
