Job Title: Principal Process Technology Engineer

Arkema Inc. is actively recruiting for a Principal Process Technology Engineer to support assignments across multiple business units in Arkema. The Principal Process Technology Engineer will be part of the Central Process Engineering Group reporting to the Director of Process Technology working across all Arkema s plants in the Americas.

The ideal candidate must be able to develop and execute projects and programs. The Principal Process Technology Engineer will be accountable for specifying and developing process technology for new process design and plant improvement. The individual will be regarded as a subject matter expert for one or more areas of technology, simulation and/or unit operation process expert.

Specific job activities include (but are not limited to):

-Interface with global R&D leading to piloting and other scale up activities, process technology development and subsequent process engineering.

- Run pilot studies at Arkema s facility or at vendors.

-Conduct basic engineering work and process analysis on complex plant unit operations.

-Study process alternatives and develop preliminary economics analysis.

-Use process modeling software such as Aspen and interpret data to generate solutions.

-Prepare PFD s, P&ID s, heat and material balances, etc.

-Prepare basic engineering packages.

-Use knowledge of safety regulations and environmental issues, and incorporate them into engineering work.

-Participate in Hazard Reviews.

-Incorporate waste and energy minimization and control into projects.

-Effectively organize and plan work. Will assume the role of team leader as needed.

-Coordinate process tests with plants and provide oversight.

-May develop and lead small capital projects and may provide process support to larger capital projects.

-Business support, competitive intelligence support and joint ownership of business unit process technology.

This position is located at our Corporate Offices and R&D Center in King of Prussia, PA. Intermittent business travel is required, subject to the project. It is expected to average 25% or less.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering is required for this position.
- Minimum of 10 years of industrial experience.
- Prior experience with Aspen simulation is needed.
- Experience with fluorination chemistry and Lean Six Sigma would be advantageous.
- Well versed in the laws and rules governing the design and implementation of solutions regarding chemical processes. These include federal laws regarding environmental compliance issues, process hazards techniques and manuals, engineering standards, OSHA requirements, PSM, etc.
- Team player with high order interpersonal skills and leadership qualities.
- Demonstrated skills in industrial safety and process safety is a must.
- Higher degree candidates (MS ChE) as well as higher experience level candidates will also be strong contributors and are encouraged to apply.
