Principal Scientist, San Francisco Bay Area

Novartis Pharmaceuticals has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Scientist. The successful c&idate will play a key role in conducting research studies, evaluating & recommending lead formulations for developing Novartis' particle engineering-based inhalation products. As part of the product development department this position will support the preformulation & formulation activities for early development as well as refinement of later stage formulations of both small molecules & biomolecules. Interacts with various functional/technology groups in the Development, QA/QC, & CMC teams to support &/or lead the development of formulations, technology, manufacturing processes, analytical methodologies & products through various phases & stages. Expertise in physicochemical characterization, formulation & pharmaceutical development is required. Applies scientific principles, concepts & wide range of bench or instrumental procedures to potential inventions, products & problems. Leads in the planning, execution & documentation of laboratory research/experimentation with minimal supervision. May also represent the Pharmaceutics function in multidisciplinary projects teams & collaborate with team members to ensure project advancement.
