As a member of the Research unit of the UCLA Department of Radiation Oncology, provide primary support to investigators in the development of statistical models, analysis, protocol design, grant writing, and sample/size power feasibility calculations. Manage all operational outcomes related to the development and usage of the Department s Registry data abstraction tools and databases, as well as those pertaining to other study data collection efforts. Oversee, train, mentor and manage two staff members and occasional student workers assigned to the Registry and other Departmental statistics projects.


Required: Master's Degree with at least 3 years of experience in a directly applicable bioscience area such as drug development, basic health research, public health or data safety management.

Preferred: Ph.D in a directly applicable area.

Knowledge of basic and multivariate statistics.

Knowledge of research design

Skill in statistical software applications, notably SAS and Splus/R

Ability to conceptualize desired tables and graphs and create them from raw data

Ability to write manuscripts for scientific peer-review journals

Ability to recognize, spell, and use statistical and medical terminology appropriately

Ability to summarize results of statistical analyses for medical collaborators and for

peer-reviewed publication

Ability to use software, Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Excel

Skill in editing for spelling, punctuation, and grammar

Ability to select and pass on relevant information to co-investigators

Knowledge of basic computer hardware

Skill in speaking clearly and distinctively using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain and convey information within and outside the University

Ability to perform duties and tasks independently with minimal supervision

Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other staff members and faculty

Experience building and developing databases

Experience using EPIC and Aria

Experience reading and interpreting study protocols

Experience with advanced statistical techniques including ordinal regression and zero inflated negative binomial models
