Job Description

Apply knowledge of process control and automation theory and practical methodology to evaluate current systems in the plate mill and recommend required modifications to support improvements.

ESSENTIAL KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide support to Rolling Mill Production and Maintenance departments by establishing clear understanding of the various control and automation hardware and software, with specific focus on real-time modeling and scheduling.
2. Provide continuous process improvement, on-going maintenance support and resolution of the Rolling Mill control systems problems, as well as taking ownership of the problems to completion.
3. Remain current with the Evraz Claymont business including appropriate level of understanding of products, process, and applied technologies.
4. Maintain current knowledge base on processes and technologies appropriate to Evraz Claymont.
5. Obtain complete understanding of rolling mill control systems and their impact on related information systems and production; Deploy new or upgraded processes/products with minimal disruption to production; Compose requirement specifications, high level design, and system architecture specifications; Write proposals including business rules, process description, business controls, opportunities, costs, and benefits and provide training to other groups relating to the process.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Degree in electrical engineering/automated manufacturing engineering, equivalent or higher.
2. Expertise in adaptive real-time process modeling and scheduling; mathematical modeling and statistical analysis.
3. Demonstrated knowledge of data structures, multi-process programming, FORTRAN and C programming language in VMS and UNIX environment respectively.
4. Demonstrated knowledge of communication between various systems (Ethernet, serial etc).
5. Experience in implementing integrated control systems, specifically integration of higher level systems (modeling and analytical).
6. Knowledge of Control and sequence logic and programming a fixed scan time system.
7. Demonstrated ability to write technical documents & specifications
8. Good documentation and oral communication skills
9. Experience with tracking system. (Product tracking)
10. Knowledge of PLC hardware and software installation and configuration
11. Knowledge of DEC VAX & Alpha Hardware, VAX/VMS, Windows NT, and Digital UNIX operating systems operations and utilities
12. Knowledge of Local Area Networks, and TCP/IP protocols. Database design methodologies, Visual Basic a plus
13. Knowledge of IBM-PC hardware and software (DOS, MS-Office, WIN3.11, AND WinNT)
14. Experience with Motorola VME , TI and/or AB PLC a plus
15. Knowledge of hydraulic theory and hydraulic system controls.
16. Able to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic schematics

1. Able to work in Rolling Mill Department.
