SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

The Process Engineer, Facilities Technical Engineering, provides technical leadership and accountability for all process engineering aspects in the delivery of capital projects and engineering services for research and development (R&D) laboratories, clinical manufacturing related facilities, and warehouses at Gilead's Corporate Headquarters in Foster City, CA. Position reports to Associate Director of Technical Engineering.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB FUNCTIONS

The Process Engineer, Facilities Technical Engineering will work effectively on multi-discipline engineering capital project teams, as well as other non-project related cross-functional teams. The primary focus of the Process Engineer I will be to help develop and drive process designs and improvements for capital projects and provide technical support for Gilead process development, manufacturing processes and analytical methods. The Process Engineer will be responsible for process and analytical root cause investigation and resolution. This person will analyze and summarize process data to support process monitoring and improvements, and perform technical support activities. The Process Engineer I will represent Gilead Facilities Engineering in multidisciplinary internal/external project teams. This person will collaborate across all functional areas to insure project advancement, rapid and best in class execution, and communication of challenges/opportunities. The Process Engineer will play a key role in project life cycle, including design, procurement, schedule, commissioning and validation and shall be responsible for the following:



* Directly supports capital projects by specifying, accepting and overseeing installation of process equipment.

* May interface with regulatory agencies as required.

* Ensures project work complies with established practices, policies and processes.

* Represents the Technical Engineering Team for Project Reviews for major strategic decisions.

* Works closely with other functions including finance, validation, operations, labs and facilities operations in reporting project status and adhering to established guidelines and policies.

This position is expected to be an effective communicator of ideas, engineering goals and results. With minimal supervision, the process engineer is expected to make presentations and updates to senior management and in broader forums both internal and external to Gilead.



KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Experience with design and operations of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Systems and working in cGMP environment.
Possess strong leadership, project management, negotiation and communication skills
Must be familiar with Autocad, MS Office Applications, MS Project, and Oracle Enterprise Systems, Siemens Apogee Products and System Architecture/Programming.
Must have experience and knowledge on Fire/Life Safety System, HVAC systems design and operation.
Experience in design and implementation, planning and schedule, and project management of small to medium capital projects and facilities equipment upgrades.
Typically requires a BS degree in Engineering and minimum 5 years of relevant experience in related field. An MA/MBA degree Experience with design and operations of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Systems and working in cGMP environment.
