JOB DESCRIPTIONPROCUREMENT ENGINEER

Status: Full-Time, Project (One-year)
As part of the worldwide organization of International Procurement Offices within Hitachi, Ltd., the Value Chain Integration Division (VID) of Hitachi America, Ltd. serves as a key focal point for high technology business alliances with global business partners and the Hitachi Group of companies. The successful candidate will negotiate and manage procurement contracts for PBT and Nuclear business.
Negotiate contract terms and conditions equipment contracts for PBT projects. Identify commercial, quality, legal risks.
Project Management Activities including:
Managing suppliers to comply with contractual requirements.
Minimizing and negotiating contract changes.
Controlling delivery and cost control including LD assessment and export control.
Support Project customer negotiations for claims and backcharges
Work with key suppliers and sales organizations in order to package competitive offers on Project Bids.
Communicate effectively with customer in Japan and internal business associates in the US. Monthly reports to customer.
Engineering support including value engineering, expediting and quality management.
Business travel to supplier sites often with Hitachi Japan colleagues for negotiation, expediting or engineering clarification. Generate Minutes of meeting for signature.
Work with HAL group including but not limited to Project sites, Legal and PSD. Support site procurement any PBT Projects.
Support management of PBT installation contracts
BS or MS (Mechanical Engineering)
A minimum of 2-3 years of full time experience in procurement, project management or engineering fields.
Must have the ability to identify, understand, document and support resolution of various engineering issues.
Strong understanding of equipment manufacturing expediting.
Japanese language skills a plus.
Team player, excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task and prioritize, and work in a multi-cultural setting.
10% travel required.
