Job Title: Product Engineer

Department: Engineering

Reports to: VP of Engineering

FLSA Status: Exempt

SUMMARY

Product engineering and development of all Super Series Products Supertherm Shell and Tube steam to water and water to water Commercial water heater. SuperPlate advanced Plate type water to water commercial water heater.SuperSteam shell and tube steam fired HTHW fired clean steam generator.

Managing of all mechanical, thermal, instrumentation and control design aspects of the Products, price estimation, budget, deadlines, outside contractors, engineering schedules, coordination with shop and other departments, working with clients, engineering firms, providing submittals to the customers and implementing changes in the project as per customer comments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

ENGINEERING:

-General Thermal and mechanical design of Shell and Tube and Plate and Frame heat exchangers.

-Thermal and mechanical design of water heaters.

-Thermal and mechanical design of steam generators

Strong control theory for steam and boiler water systems

Strong instrumentation and control background with PID loops and tuning of open systems

Knowledge of various gateway converters and how they communicate with 485 RTU MODBUS Protocols

A. DESIGN OF PACKAGED UNITS:

1. INSTANTANEOUS AND SEMI-INSTANTANEOUS WATER HEATERS:

- Selection and implementation of different models of control valves: (pneumatic, electric and self-contained) in the design

- Selection and implementation of different models of mixing tempering valves: in the design

- Selection and implementation of different models of steam traps in the design

- Selection and implementation of different double solenoid safety systems in the design

- Selection and implementation of recirculating pumps

- Selection and implementation of different models of control panels and wiring diagrams for different control systems.

- Selection and implementation of relief valves in the design

2. UNFIRED (CLEAN) STEAM GENERATORS:

- Selection and implementation of different models of control valves: (pneumatic, electric and self-contained) in the design

- Selection and implementation of different models of steam traps in the design

- Selection and implementation of different double solenoid safety system in the design

- Selection and implementation of different models of control panels and wiiring diagrams for different control systems.

- Selection and implementation of relief valves in the design

-Design of feed water system

-Design of low and high level control systems

- Design and implementation of different types of blowdown systems: timing bases and conductivity bases

-Design and implementation of centrifugal blowdown coolers

-Design and implementation of control system and control panels.

Startups and trouble shooting of water heaters and steam generators.

Coordinate with marketing team in regards to brochures and technical literature for DHT products:

QUOTING AND ESTIMATION:

Value engineering and material and labor estimation

Assisting in creation of price lists for end users, contractors, manufacturing representatives

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

Writing of detailed Operation and Maintenance Manuals for all products including drawing illustrations and photos.

Overseeing the creation of all solid works 3D and 2D drawings for product offerings and O&M Manuals

Issue all necessary revisions to the O&M Manuals for all products

Writing of case studies and specific industry articles to support Marketing efforts for all products

Working with outside Testing labs i.e. UL, ETL etc.

Overseeing the product appearance ergonomics color finish and overall aesthetics

Participation in annual trade shows ASHRAE ASPE etc.

Supporting Sales Engineering with lunch and learn power point presentations

QUALIFICATIONS

* BS in Mechanical Engineering and 5-10 yrs related experience
* Knowledge of mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic controls
* Solid analytical skills are required: control theory analysis, heat transfer, fluid flow and Insrumentation
* Ability to solve complex mechanical, static and dynamic problems
* Knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and compressible flow
* Must work precisely, accurately, and with close attention to all details
* Superior communication skills.
