Job Description
The Product Environmental Compliance Manager is responsible for managing Varian's product environmental compliance program to ensure that Varian products comply with worldwide regulatory requirements, industry standards and prioritized customer requirements. The position requires a global acting to ensure compliance for all Varian products of each Business Unit. Global coordination between the facilities and their local Compliance and Environmental resources is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and own key companywide compliance program documentation, including but not limited to the Product Stewardship Specification and the Supplier Product Environmental Compliance Specification.

Recommend compliance program goals, objectives and metrics to senior management.

Track regulatory, industry and customer requirements to identify product compliance and communicate to senior management and internal stakeholders. Develop and recommend strategic approaches and processes to ensure that Varian products legally comply and meet prioritized customer requirements.

Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Continuing Engineering, Purchasing, Legal, IT, Sales, Customer Service and relevant internal departments/functions in the Business Units to provide technical expertise and support, and to catalyze actions needed to meet program goals.

Work with Sales and Customer Service to ensure that Varian's product environmental compliance program is communicated to customers and that customers can access the data they need to support their program needs. Obtain feedback from these organizations regarding customer interest in this area and communicate them back if necessary for product strategic planning.

Support design engineering projects, including development of product environmental champions in key locations who can consistently interpret and support product environmental compliance within their respective organizations.

Develop Design for Environment approaches, appropriate for Varian's business and industry sector, which reduce cost of manufacturing, total cost of product ownership, and product lifecycle environmental impacts

Job Requirements
Minimum Required Skills and Knowledge:
Proficient in utilizing business tools such as: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired.

Typical Education and Experience:
Bachelors Degree (or equivalent experience) and/or 2-5 years of related experience, Masters Degree preferred.
