First Line Leader
AAssociate Accountability Statement
Each associate is required to demonstrate personal commitment to the standards set forth in The General Cable Code of Ethics and Compliance Guidelines using sound judgment in maintaining appropriate compliance procedures and in carrying out their duties with honesty, in compliance with laws and with high ethical standards.
Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, a Coach engages associates in regular two way conversations around safety, is a promoter of safety events and initiatives, leads where appropriate and encourages operators to participate in safety activities and accident investigations. Adept at teaching people about quality, process control at the source and engaging associates in problem solving. Gather data and conduct analysis to ensure productivity improvement opportunities are clear and controls are in place and being used to aid associates in making better decisions. Facilitate operators by taking ownership, eliminating themselves as a middleman through training and coaching. Promote direct communication and decisions between hourly operators, Quality, Maintenance and Production Control, with daily dialogue between associates about cell/team, plant and business issues, and ensure that associates understand production and quality metrics and their meaning. Creates an active cross training plan with operators who are engaged, while balancing their role as a teacher, educating associates in methods to increase efficiency, quality and safety. Continuously encouraging operator participation and ownership in 5S responsibilities, and engaging associates in visual factory, intervening when necessary. Primary representative on a daily basis promoting peer accountability, cell teamwork, and gaining buy-in from associates in sustaining improvements.

Utilizes metrics and visual factory tools to facilitate two-way conversations relative to expectations and performance
Links day to day work and business needs providing regular team feedback relative to goals
Handles reluctant team members effectively with an ability to communicate to associates the need for engagement
Teaches others to lead cell/team meetings
A relationship builder that builds trust through listening and responding with empathy
Crafts and celebrates wins with the team
Teaches teams how to keep metrics, develops ownership for the metrics and desire to positively impact them
Uses known problem solving techniques to reach quick and effective solutions
Teaches associates how to use continuous improvement and lean tools
Understands change management processes and can apply these to daily situations
Situationally embraces autonomy while knowing when to exercise authority
Influence and persuasion skills used regularly as they sell the benefits of team and individual engagement
Recognizes traditional supervisor and operator thinking and is able to shift this type of paradigm
A results driven individual who has demonstrated ability coaching in a high performance/high engagement manufacturing environment
Able to understand, communicate, and lead associates to improve key performance metrics
Is able to manage the "big picture" and communicate this to others
Must be able to manage multiple, complex tasks and deal easily with pressure on a day in and day out basis
Must be able to motivate associates to higher levels of engagement, communicate and drive continuous improvement
Critical thinker with excellent analytical abilities balanced by superior people skills
Solid planning , leadership , coaching, communication and administrative skills
High energy, demonstrates urgency and fast pace
Good understanding of business principles and practices; knows how to lead a team to a bottom line result
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business is preferred. Associates degree in engineering or equivalent experience is required.
