PURPOSE OF POSITION
Hitachi Consulting is looking for a professional engineer with a proven track record of aptitude and success in the consulting and environmental, health and safety (EHS) fields. The position requires a broad range of skills and the ability to step into different roles depending on the size and scope of an engagement. Typical examples of position tasks include but are not limited to conducting environmental health and safety program audits and evaluations, providing regulatory-based technical assistance, and assisting clients to develop, implement, and train on EHS and technical programs.
At least four years of EHS, energy, engineering or water consulting experience preferably for public or commercial sector organizations
Specific expertise in interpreting environmental standards and regulations, auditing against regulations, and advising clients on how best to implement a comprehensive EHS program
Exceptional writing skills (understandable, accurate, grammatically correct, free of typographic errors)
Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences or similar
PE professional accreditation
Knowledge and/or experience related to safety and health hazards and mitigation measures in industrial or laboratory settings
Experience with waste/wastewater systems and design improvement measures
Experience in surveying (auditing) facilities and operations to determine compliance with EHS standards, particularly 40 CFR and 29 CFR, preferred not required
Experience developing facility plans (e.g., spill prevention, control and countermeasure (SPCC) Plans, total maximum daily load (TMDL) reports) and environmental permit applications
Communication skills: strong presentation/communication/facilitation skills
Works well with teams or in a team environment, with the ability to work independently
General consulting skills
Administration skills, such as electronic file management
Regular and expeditious travel throughout the United States and occasionally overseas is required to meet client needs and timetables
Available to be stationed at and work from local or out-of-town client sites for an extended period of time
Work may be conducted in a variety of work environments ranging from a general office environment in which work is generally sedentary in nature, with adequate lighting and temperatures, to dynamic field work environments indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and where the work may involve working around heights, heavy machinery, electricity, and toxic and hazardous materials. Extensive walking and climbing up and down stairs may also be required.
While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to sit, walk, talk and hear. The employee is also required to operate a motor vehicle and must be licensed to do so.
