This position is 12-month, tenure track Regular Title Series. The successful candidate is expected to: provide leadership and for equine-related activities in the College of Food, Agriculture, and Environment as the Director of Equine Programs (70%); conduct research on the biomechanics and mechanical properties of living tissues as they relate to musculoskeletal disease detection and prevention (20%); and teach (10%) undergraduate and graduate courses in the areas of biomechanics, instrumentation and/or mechanics of materials related to equine athletes.
The successful candidate will be responsible for: procuring external funding to assist in program support and research projects; publishing results in appropriate scholarly journals; advising graduate students; and organizing workshops and other innovative methods of delivery in support of research and teaching programs. Regional and national interdisciplinary research programs are encouraged.
Duties of Equine Programs Director include leadership and administrative oversight of equine related activities, implementation and coordination of program operations with stakeholders, industry leaders and college faculty and staff, and serve as an advocate to promote interdisciplinary programs in equine science and management.

Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) to effectively interact with internal and external audiences.
Demonstrated ability to work with other engineering and commodity specialists, research faculty, producers and public, private, and governmental agencies.
