JOB DESCRIPTIONAPPLY Job Description
The R&D Program Management Operations is responsible for directing the operational planning and implementation of tools, templates and processes which support the R&D PM functional area, Product Teams, and R&D Senior Leadership/Governance Committees. These activities include: driving Governance Committee planning and logistics; external reporting of Pipeline information; partnering in R&D to gather input and generate ad hoc reports; partnering with Corporate Development to align on standardized PM reports; developing/implementing templates and process to enhance PM Product Team support; generate/monitor R&D PM budget and spend; participate in/manage/lead special projects/R&D initiatives from concept through implementation/training within R&D; oversight of department and governance SharePoint sites and/or other information management systems. Responsible for and/or involved in infrastructure, templates, and processes required to drive R&D PM activities to ensure successful pipeline and/or project reporting, management, monitoring and control. May be accountable and/or a subject matter expert (ie Go To person) for one or more internal tracking/reporting systems, processes and/or templates.
The R&D Program Management Operations will:
Drive operational activities (planning, organizing, communications, and logistics/technology) for the Pipeline Committee meetings. Review Pipeline Committee presentations and/or Stage Gate Review deliverables to ensure compliance to the process, quality and standards.
Plan, analyze, organize, coordinate, and produce output for external pipeline / portfolio reporting (ie earnings calls) and for Senior Leadership requests. This may include working with Corporate Development in creating new guidelines, processes and developing/procuring new tools.
Leads analysis of overall milestone performance and presentation to Senior Leadership. Contribute to the creation and maintenance of historical databases for the purpose of tracking, trending, learning, and improving decisions regarding program/business performance and continuance. Communicates this information to allow its use in project prioritization and/or product portfolio process and portfolio management.
Develop and/or review R&D PM reporting/ information/deliverables and ensure quality and adherence to standards/requirements. Provide continuous feedback to improve policies, procedures and technical solutions for proper internal project reporting and control.
May lead and/or represent the R&D PM function on special task forces, cross-functional teams, and/or working groups. Has a strong understanding of relevant business needs, the ability to handle complex problems, and a strong knowledge of product development processes.
Serve as a champion of Shire s Project Management Methodology and associated processes
Support and maintain the knowledge management process and ongoing deployment for Programs and Projects
Participate in the research, analysis, selection, and implementation of new cross-functional tools, technologies and/or services
Drive the development of portfolio, program and project management-specific training content and facilitate and/or deliver the training.
Support the development of Program and Project management talent framework
Participate and prepares for Steering Committee / Sponsor Meetings
Governance / External Reporting Support

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor s degree in a scientific or business discipline 10 years, MS with 5 years, or PhD with 3 years of relevant experience, or documented equivalency.
5+ years of project management or portfolio management experience with increasing complexity and/or accountability, or equivalent is required
Healthcare and/or Life Sciences experience in Pharmaceutical Product Development, Finance or R&D with strong knowledge of product and or device development strategy and process (scope, resource, risk, and project financials management skills) his highly desirable
PMI - Project Management Professional (PMP, or equivalent) certification is not necessary, but highly desirable
Documented leadership experience, including cross-functional leadership positions
Experience in handling, analysis, and reporting of complex data bases is highly desirable.
Demonstrated understanding of financial/accounting principles and practices is desirable.
Knowledge of software tool / IT solutions and business enterprise applications for the use in Project Management and or analyses is highly desirable
Experience in organizational change management and/or global business process change is highly desirable
Proven track record delivering projects on-time/on-budget
