The ideal candidate is an experienced engineer (mechanical electrical chemical or related discipline) with an exceptional technical background project management and business development experience who is ready to transition to fully-engaged leadership and management of high-technology programs and unique concept developments. The candidate should have an MS / Ph.D. or equivalent degree(s) and ten years of experience (or a B.S. and 15 years of relevant experience) in direct "hands-on" work in advanced technologies and effective leadership in both formal and informal roles. Relevant domain expertise and a corresponding large number of industry contacts are vital -- automotive experience in general and self-driving cars in particular is the most desirable. Alternatively candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas will also be considered: fossil / nuclear power generation renewable energy oil drilling equipment / operations refineries or oil & gas pipeline systems. The candidate must have excellent presentation and communication skills. Demonstrated skills in innovation and collaboration are a must and the capacity to influence & inspire others is essential. PMI training and certification are a plus.

The Program Manager will be responsible for conceiving creating capturing and executing highly innovative development programs for self-driving (autonomous) automobiles and other non-government vehicles. This position requires the rare combination of outstanding technical talent (both broad and deep) along with exceptional interpersonal and organizational insight in order to spot emerging customer challenges; relate Draper capabilities to address these challenges; and develop capture and run relevant programs. The Program Manager must be an impetus for new technical and business development in the Transport and Energy sectors with the ability to bring energy create focus build enthusiasm and engender cooperation on multi-disciplinary technically challenging developments. The Program Manager also serves as the principal customer interface for the programs and proposals she/he will manage with frequent travel required. The Program Manager will: develop personal credibility with customer organizations and establish corporate thought leadership relationships with these organizations; lead high-caliber engineering teams to develop game changing concepts; use her/his technical background to identify and qualify potential technical breakthroughs that can lead to operational performance breakthroughs; lead proposal efforts including the development of work statements schedules budgets and evaluation of proposal inputs from the engineering staff; and manage programs to meet technical cost and schedule objectives.
