We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated, well organized and detail-oriented PROGRAM MGR ADMISSION OUTREACH for our RMC Medical Student Progs-RMC Department.



GENERAL SUMMARY:



This position builds robust, long-term relationships with feeder schools locally and nationally through the development of admissions workshops, individual advising, and counseling. This individual develops and maintains relationships with key stakeholders on campus, Health Professions Advisors at colleges and universities locally and throughout the country, and Rush Medical College alumni. This position is responsible for assuring the implementation and maintenance of the admissions and recruitment strategic plan. The Outreach Manager will accomplish this goal by utilizing benchmarks, data analysis, outcomes, and research to evaluate and monitor the overall effectiveness of the strategic plan and specific programs. The individual who holds this position exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.



PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:OUTREACH (60%)



*

Design, develop and execute an outreach program consistent with strategic goals targeting underrepresented audiences at a local and national level.



*

Design, develop and maintain relationships with Health Professions Advisors at colleges and universities throughout the country with particular attention to feeder schools.



*

Establishes and maintains a local and national network of RMC alumni who will participate and assist the College in its admissions and recruitment efforts of those applicants underrepresented in medicine.



*

Conducts presentations and represents the Medical College at information sessions, medical school fairs, workshops, seminars, panels, and other recruitment events.



*

Assists the Director and Dean of Admissions and Recruitment to establish and/or maintain relationships with historically Black and Hispanic/Latino serving colleges/universities and travel to these campuses as appropriate.



*

Travels to represent RMC at regional and national recruiting fairs and conduct select campus visits based on Medical College priorities.



*

Coordinate and execute social events to bring together prospective URMs, current underrepresented students, faculty and staff around, but not limited to, Second Look Day, Interview Day, M1 Orientation, Mentor programs, and other recruitment events.



*

Works directly with established Pipeline Programs at Rush University and establishing new pipeline programs for the purpose of improving the recruitment and matriculation of underrepresented in medicine students at Rush Medical College (RMC).



*

Establishes potential relationships and opportunities with Malcolm X College, Crane High School, Simpson Academy, Instituto Health Science Career Academy, and other local high schools, colleges/universities, and other opportunities that arise to promote and enhance the diversity and inclusion goals of RMC and Rush University.
*

Maintain a budget and ongoing review of travel activities related to admissions and recruitment.



COUNSELING/ADVISING (20%)



*

Develops and maintains productive working relationships with key educational stakeholders, to include but not limited to Graduate Medical Education (GME), Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee, faculty, and house staff.



*

Counsels/advises prospective applicants, included but not limited to those underrepresented, alumni connections, and unsuccessful applicants on application improvement strategies, to include application review and general strategies for applying.



*

Educates faculty, students, and staff about the admissions process and outreach efforts.



ADMINISTRATION (20%)



*

Work in conjunction with GME and Faculty recruitment to establish and maintain a Mentor Program for our underrepresented students; collaborate on local and national recruitment efforts (travel, national ads, social media) through national SNMA/LMSA organizations and additional efforts to promote diversity on our campus.



*

Liaises with regional schools and institutions and coordinates student and faculty travel to represent RMC, including but not limited to Student National Medical Association (SNMA), Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA) and other conferences/events.



*

Assists with matriculation scholarships by communicating with applicants upon selection and tracking results of offers.



*

Collaborates and works in a collegial manner with the Offices of Graduate Medical Education (GME), University Multicultural Affairs, Community Outreach and Student Life and Engagement to promote and further develop the diversity and inclusion goals of RMC and RUMC.



*

Work with GME administration in the recruitment of medical students for fourth year visiting rotations at Rush and for residency program recruitment support.



*

Develop and submit year-end report of Outreach Efforts.



*

Manages special projects and/or events as assigned by the Assistant Dean and/or Director of Admissions and Recruitment.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



*

Bachelor degree required, Master s degree preferred. Five to seven years of experience in higher education admissions and recruitment required.



*

Detailed oriented, highly organized with an ability to manage multiple tasks and interact with others in a professional and cordial manner.



*

Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills; strong public speaking skills and ability to engage large and small groups in a variety of settings.



*

Requires regular travel throughout the country, including overnight stays and occasional weekends.



*

Maintains confidentiality for applicants, students and/or graduates (alumni).
*

Proven ability to set and maintain a standard for a high volume of productivity in a fast paced environment.



*

Must be able to build and maintain a positive team environment and culture.



*

Ability to become proficient with Admissions software and databases.



*

Must demonstrate working knowledge of word processing, data analysis and spreadsheet programs. Experience with Windows, Microsoft Office, Excel and Access (or other database systems).



*

Ability to work collaboratively and support diversity of prospective students, community constituents, staff, faculty and other parties connected to this position.



*

This position will require some evening and weekend responsibilities
