Job Description
The individual in this role will perform analysis, design, programming, and testing tasks to deliver on strategic projects specific to C.H. Robinson's Online and Trucks web applications. The position demands excellent problem solving skills and interaction with internal customers and other IT teams. The individual will be expected to produce thorough technical designs and documentations, deliver quality product within agreed upon timelines. The individual will pay great attention to detail, take pride in their work and have a good sense of product requirements.
The ideal candidate would have a minimum of 2 - 3 years of programming experience in Information Technology with an in-depth experience developing web applications utilizing .NET technology and MS SQL Server. The successful applicant will be a creative, self-motivated individual, capable of working independently or in a team environment, and on multiple projects at once. Additionally, applicant should have excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work in a high-paced, high-pressure environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop .Net-based web application that meet data integrity, performance, business, and security objectives for complex application features using tools like Visual Studio and interaction with SQL Server databases
- Design and develop secure web applications to integrate with our current suite of applications
- Lead and facilitate design sessions and code walk-throughs
- Provide high-level technical options that may span multiple systems
- Identify high-level system impacts
- Translate high-level requirements into detailed designs
- Develop and maintain thorough technical documentation
- Provide technical estimates
- Perform thorough unit testing and some functional testing as needed
- Support Robinson's architecture efforts by following and adhering to the standards set forth by the architecture group and devising consistent solutions to maintain the integrity of application architecture
- Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Proactively maintain an understanding of the client's business practices
- Provide innovative ideas and solutions in an ever-changing environment
- Possess solid communication skills and a strong customer focus
- Ability to find and generate revenue opportunities through continuous process improvements and/or cost reduction initiatives
- Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated success in the development and delivery of information technology solutions is required
- Proven track record of effectively delivering results in a fast paced environment while managing multiple priorities is a must
- Experience with Use Case driven design methodologies
- Knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) using Web Services.
- Knowledge of the security best practices
- Should be a self-starter and be able to work under minimal supervision
Must have experience applying the following technical skills:
- .NET 2.0 and above
- ASP.NET - 2 years
- VB.NET /C#.NET - 2 years
- ADO.NET - 2 years
- LINQ - 1 year
- Object Oriented Development - 2 years
- Applied knowledge of T-SQL and SQL 2005/2008 and proficiency with relational database technology including schema design, stored procedure development and SQL queries - 2 years
- Solid knowledge of XML - 2 years
- UML - 2 years
- HTML - 2 years
- JavaScript - 2 years
Required Education
Undergraduate degree in business administration, computer science/software engineering, or equivalent work experience.
