JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION MISSION: The Project Accountant is the primary accounting and administrative support for construction projects, from project startup through final closeout. The project accountant position is responsible for monitoring the progress of projects, investigating variances, monitoring job profitability, and reporting project financials to upper management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Review contract language and documents to assure compliance with all contractual obligations related to client and subcontractor billing
* Coordinate subcontractors billing and schedule of values
* Prepare monthly client billings, working with vendors, subcontractors and internal departments in order to collect required documentation (releases, insurances, supporting invoices where required)
* Communicate directly with CEO when questions on clients' contract administration arise.
* Prepare monthly billings packages to client.
* Monitor and track material and subcontractor purchase orders for each job and match up to final invoices before approval to pay.
* Assist in preparation of monthly executive weekly meeting documentation
* Update and maintain project dashboard with project accounting information on a weekly basis.
* Perform project analysis and prepare reports for management review
* Monitors cash flow and communicates with the project staff on tracking A/R and A/P on each project
* Perform project close out activities
* Review Profit & Loss statements to ensure revenue and cost are recorded accurately
* Monitors, records, and reports estimates versus actual costs on a weekly basis to management
* Track labor costs and apply to appropriate jobs daily

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* At least 8 years of experience in construction project accounting
* A bachelor's degree in finance or accounting preferred
* Detailed knowledge of project contracts, change order documents, and construction accounting processes
* Intermediate to Advanced QuickBooks experience
* Ability to manage several projects simultaneously
* MS Word, Project, Excel, and Outlook
* Must have excellent communication and writing skills
* Creative problem-solving ability
