Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Research Coordinator will coordinate all activities of the \\"LA PrEP Stories\\" research project, which is a study to assess the stigma associated with the use of Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV prevention among Black and Latino men who have sex with men (BLMSM) in Los Angeles. The Project Coordinator/Study Interviewer is responsible for: 1) developing and implementing outreach and recruitment strategies targeting BLMSM using various social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, gay-oriented dating apps) and other traditional recruitment strategies; 2) screening and scheduling potential study participants for interviews; 3) conducting in-depth qualitative interviews with study participants; 4) retaining participants in the study for follow-up interviews; 5) maintaining necessary project records and documents; 6) monitoring data collection to ensure accuracy of the study data; 7) assisting the Principal Investigator in the interpretation of the qualitative study findings; and 8) performing any other duties as assigned. Occasional local travel will be required.



- Experience working with LGBT populations.

- Experience conducting research study interviews.

- Knowledge of Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV prevention.

- Knowledge of social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, gay-oriented dating/social networking apps).

- Knowledge of HIV prevention issues affecting Latino and Black men who have sex with men.

- Excellent verbal/written communication skills in English and Spanish.

- Excellent interpersonal skills

- Excellent organizational skills

- Knowledgeable about issues related to HIV and Latino MSM.

- Able to work independently and efficiently with attention to detail.

- Ability to prioritize assignments and to manage several activities effectively under deadlines.

- Self-motivated, a problem solver and able to organize job assignments.

- Proficiency in MS Windows, Excel and other programs.

- Able to meet agency job work hour requirements.


- Demonstrated ability to provide clear instructions and technical assistance to research collaborators both verbally and in writing

- Experience coordinating research projects.

- Experience preparing tables, charts, and graphs of study data for use in publications and presentations

- Experience in importing data sets into statistical software, such as SAS or SPSS.

- Experience conducting basic statistical analyses, such as t-tests, Chi-square tests and linear regression

- Knowledge of database management principles and software, attention to needs of database design, and analytical skills for working with data and data analyses.
