Responsible for conducting projects related to product development and improvements, with focus on projects related to Aerospace and Defense. Will work closely with customers on projects and activities related to product improvements. This will include formal reporting for the customer (including the U.S. Navy) and day to day project interactions. Projects will be focused on improving battery performance, managing product costs, and tracking product performance. Will be responsible for evaluating, selecting, and applying engineering techniques, and procedures, and for using judgement in selecting, approving, and qualifying materials and processes used in the manufacture of batteries. Should work independently, with support provided as needed to meet project objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
-Will be responsible for formal reporting to the customer (For example, the U.S. Navy) on project activities to meet contractual obligations, and for internal reporting on project activities.
-Will be the primary contact for the customer on day to day activities related to ongoing projects and activities.
-Coordinates and conducts product trials with the objective of identifying opportunities for product performance and life improvement in specific applications.
-Coordinates and conducts product operational tests with the objective of identifying optimal operational recommendations to maximize product performance and life in specific applications
-Uses skills to support cost improvement programs
-Supports projects driven both locally and globally
-Prepares reports detailing activities
-Utilizes Root Cause Analysis techniques on products to identify opportunities for improvementRequired Skills:
Must have sound technical knowledge and understanding of engineering practices and scientific methods of evaluation. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills. Must have the ability to provide written reports for internal and external customers. Knowledge of lead-acid battery technology is strongly preferred.Required Experience:
Education and/or Experience
-4 year degree in engineering or science related discipline. Desired disciplines include mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, material science, electrochemistry, or other areas related to battery technology and/or manufacturing processes.
-Two+ years experience in an engineering role. Or equivalent combined education and experience.
