The Strategic Operations Management department oversees the Patient Affordability and Patient Journey system-wide efforts which seek to find opportunities to make our operations more efficient and to support care transition efforts across the care continuum.
The Procedural Products and Technology Executive Committee (PPT) was formed as a permanent committee under the Partners Strategic Initiatives. This Committee, with members from across the Partners System including physicians, nurses and administrators, is chartered to reduce the expense of Perioperative supplies and to develop a process for reviewing and approving new technology and avoiding duplicative processes at different institutions within the Partners system. This committee has recently expanded to all procedural areas due to its success and serves as a model for other committees.
This position is expected to support the perioperative and procedural area committee work 50-60% of the time and support other Strategic Operations Management priority projects 40-50%. The projects vary but generally require close collaboration with the Partners institutions and knowledge of financial analysis and project management.
This position reports to the Director of Patient Affordability who directs the Patient Affordability efforts and will reside within the Strategic Operations Management department under Finance
The Project Manager will:
Act as project manager and facilitator for major projects that support Partners strategic priorities
Oversee all goals and objectives of the PPT Committee in collaboration and under the direction of the Committees physician Chairs
Support the senior leadership of the PPT Committee in driving the development, implementation, and management of the overarching, multi-year project plan to achieve savings within the Partners system wide Perioperative spend.
Drive and support projects related to the system-wide PPT Executive Committee including overseeing logistics, performing analysis and preparing/ giving presentations. This person will work closely with senior leaders from the institutions and corporate with a goal of advancing the goals
Provide project management and support of the Partners system wide PPT Committee and the Value Analysis sub teams. Provide timely and accurate progress reports on all current initiatives and work directly and collaboratively with physician representatives on the committees.
Work collaboratively with the systems Supply Chain department, identifying and communicating opportunities for savings and standardization
Monitor compliance with and cost effectiveness of decision and strategies implemented by The PPT
Manage the approved hospital/physician alignment incentive program working with physician departments and the Office of General Counsel to ensure legal guidelines are followed
Work with the Office of Interaction with Industry to assure conflicts of interest are identified and Partners rules followed on physician and staff potential conflicts.
Project manages assigned projects related to patient affordability goals.
Assist in driving the objectives of the PPT Committee forward by collaborating and serving the Co Chairs needs
Collects and disseminates accurate, relevant and timely product / vendor / service line information to the members of the PPT Committee as well as to all Value Analysis sub teams. Work closely with Materials Management staff as well
Stays abreast of external supply chain and Perioperative/procedural product / vendor research, using techniques of critical literature evaluation and information synthesis. Provides benchmark information where possible.
Evaluates the impact of product and service cost management decisions on the financial performance of Perioperative departments within Partners. Assists with cost management goals by providing clinical and financial business intelligence to stakeholder, sub-teams and initiatives.
Provides leadership and promotes the importance and implementation of product standardization and decreased product utilization practices across all Perioperative/procedural departments within Partners.
Contributes to the development and communication of implementation plans for all Value Analysis sub teams product decision so as to support the success of the initiative.
Provides Partners Budget Directors and other Finance professionals with data and reports substantiating actual savings achievements in order to allow for necessary budget adjustments.
Collaborates with health care practitioners, educators and researchers, both within and outside PHS in multidisciplinary activities that support the projects assigned
Bachelors degree required. Advanced degree preferred (M.B.A., Masters in Health Policy/Public Health or M.S)
Five to seven years of progressively responsible work history in a health care related area and / or a large complex matrix organization working with senior level leaders
Prior financial analysis and project management experience in a complex multi-faceted organization Demonstrated skill with Microsoft Office and database tools, data management and data extraction
Process improvement skills and/or training a plus
Knowledge of supply chain and product formulary processes as well as comparative analyses a plus.

Ability to foster trust and collaboration within and throughout service lines within the Perioperative arena and with clinicians in multiple disciplines
Outstanding organizational, written, and oral communication skills, ability to present data to both business and clinical constituents in a clear, meaningful and concise manner
Financial analysis skills: ability to gather data, compile information from a variety of disparate sources, summarize and analyze the data
Excellent leadership skills with a strong ability to influence in a matrix organization
Effectiveness at establishing and managing multiple large-scale, multi-faceted projects simultaneously that require interdepartmental and multi-institutional cooperation
Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and within a team
