JOB DESCRIPTIONGraduation from a two year technical school with at least 10 years of applicable experience. There is no years of applicable experience in lieu of education requirement.
Performs highly skilled laboratory work under limited supervision of senior technical personnel (exempt and nonexempt). Perform cleaning maintenance and/or calibration of critical laboratory facilities and equipment requiring highly skilled and specialized knowledge. Performs work of an essentially repetitive nature requiring highly specialized skills for production of the laboratory's most complex deliverable hardware. Such work shall involve extremely complex manual tasks requiring high degrees of manual dexterity and attention to detail and/or the operation of complex automated or semi-automated equipment requiring highly evolved production skills. With limited or no supervision carefully documents their own work consistent with work unit policy in hand written form or using common computer-based software such as MS Windows MS Word MS Excel etc. Performs scientific experiments and/or tests with complex laboratory equipment independently or in collaboration with senior technical personnel (exempt and nonexempt). Applies analytic and test experience in the execution of acceptance procedures independently or in collaboration with senior technical personnel (exempt and non-exempt). Programs computer controlled automated and semi-automated equipment. At the discretion of the supervisor performs focused training to grow and enhance skills for betterment of the department or the Laboratory as a whole. As needed mentor train or supervise more junior technicians. Other temporary assignments at the discretion of the supervisor.
