ARA employs one of the largest and most well known groups of licensed engineers and physical security specialists for risk analysis and management, protective design for terrorist or criminal attack, hurricane protection, and resilient design and multi-hazard mitigation.
ARA's Southern Division is seeking an entry to mid-level Protection Design Engineer to join our Vicksburg, MS office. The position involves performing simple to complex structural analysis and design, from basic static design to dynamic, non-linear analysis using finite element and single and multiple degree of freedom methods. Collaborative teamwork is highly valued with opportunities to work on important, challenging, and high profile projects across the country and throughout the world.
Specific duties include working with engineers to perform both static and dynamic structural analysis for extreme events, prepare calculation packages, technical reports of analysis and recommendations. Limited travel may be involved to collect site-specific information, participate in testing depending on project requirements, and interact with existing clients as well as develop business with new clients and markets. Candidates must be independent; self motivated; and have excellent technical, communication, and presentation skills. An interest in project management and business development is beneficial.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Structural, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with an emphasis in structural dynamics and structural design, and one to five years of related work experience. All levels of experience are welcome to apply.
- Applicants will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for a U.S. security clearance, including U.S. Citizenship.
- M.S. or Ph.D. is preferred
- Knowledge of finite element methods and engineering software including MathCad, SAP2000, LS-DYNA, and AutoCAD or similar is preferred
