Description:
The scope of practice of the Nurse Practitioner shall be
evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients in the
hospital program. In particular, the treatments offered
consist of insight, cognitive and supportive
psychotherapy, behavioral interventions, health
teaching, case management, discharge planning, and the
prescribing of medication. Prescribes medication and
consistently utilizes the nursing process to provide
quality patient care to hospital patients. Revises
medication and nursing care plans as needed in
conjunction with Program Director and treatment planning
goals. Participates in treatment team meetings as
directed by Medical Director. Monitors medications and
dosages and adjusts as needed. Conducts history and
physical screenings for patients in the partial program.
Follows hospital nursing policies and procedures in
prescribing medications and treatments. Westwood Lodge

Westwood Lodge is a 89-bed private psychiatric hospital
located in Westwood, Mass. The hospital offers a full
continuum of services, including inpatient for children,
adolescents and adults. Programs Include: 24-Hour
Evaluations, Triage, and Admissions Inpatient Treatment
for Children, Adolescents, and Adults Partial
Hospitalization for Children, Adolescents, and Adults
Requirements:
Education: Masters level licensure as APRN, Clinical
Nurse
Specialist, Nurse Practitioner or equivalent related
licensure.
Experience: Prior partial and/or inpatient psychiatric
experience
preferred.
Technical Skills: Must be proficient with written and
verbal
communication skills. Must have knowledge of
community-based and
state agencies with regard to behavioral health
services.
Age and Disability: Must possess knowledge and skills
necessary
to interact compassionately and appropriately with
patients and their
families on a regular basis.
Other: Professional demeanor and appearance, as well as
the ability
to deal tactfully with sensitive situations and maintain
patient
confidentiality. Must be able to interact effectively
with other
hospital departments to achieve desired outcome for the
patient.
Contacts: Reports to the Medical Director and contacts
outside
care providers as needed.
